You have done such a wonderful job of updating and decorating! It was new, clean, beachy, but not too beachy, if you know what I mean... We loved it! Crooked Island Sound

Welcome to the

Best Little Beach House in Florida

About two and ½ miles to the west, on US Highway 98, you will see a small dirt road that turns off towards the beachside that will take you to a special place called Crooked Island…

Crooked Island is exotic and remote - no buildings or even a hint of a power line in sight, rarely more than a handful of people, and rarely any boats or people fishing (if any). It's amazing that it exists in the 21st century along the Florida coast. We contemplate not telling anyone about it, but those who appreciate such places should see it before some businessmen try to transform it into another development! It is a protected park, so maybe we'll have it around for a long time, but still won't tell many people about it…keep it our little secret!

Sea turtles come here to nest, pelicans slam the water and emerge with small fish while dolphins repeatedly pop out of the water in fun. If you are lucky, you might pick up a sea cucumber, a toadfish, or even see a winged skate. And there are so many shells -- razor clams, augers, oysters, whelks, scallops, sand dollars and conch-- strewn across the sand, make sure you bring bags to carry them home in! You might even find a starfish or two…

You can walk the beach and really relax. Bring a beach chair or a bike, a thermos of hot coffee, and just really enjoy nature at its finest.
